Developing a Sustainable Campus through Community Engagement: An Empirical Study
Universities increasingly recognise sustainability as a core organisational priority, yet many initiatives remain focused on operational improvements rather than the behavioural and cultural dimensions of campus life. This study develops a 6‑P community‑engagement framework—psychological, physical, personal, public perception, price and policies—to promote eco‑centric practices within university settings. Using interviews with staff and students at Bond University, the research tests the framework’s applicability and finds that all six factors positively influence sustainable behaviour. The study concludes that the 6‑P framework offers a practical template for universities seeking to strengthen community engagement and embed sustainability more deeply across campus culture.
